Iran's Police chief enters Shalamcheh ahead of Arbaeen walk
TEHRAN- The commander-in-chief of Iran’s Police, along with a group of officers and border officials, visited the Shalamcheh border terminal on Wednesday.
According to Mehr News, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan entered the Shalamcheh border crossing to assess the conditions at the Shalamcheh border ahead of the Arbaeen Walk and the necessity to expedite the entry and exit of Arbaeen pilgrims.
So far, 224,000 pilgrims have registered nationwide to participate in the Arbaeen Walk. The Shalamcheh border terminal, alongside the Mehran and Khosravi terminals, is considered one of the busiest border crossings for the Arbaeen Walk.
The Arbaeen Walk is a religious ceremony and congregation carried out by Shiite Muslims along the paths leading to Karbala for pilgrimage and mourning on the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Hussein Ibn Ali, the third Imam of Shiites, in the battle of Karbala. Registration for this event in recent years has been facilitated through the Samah system and the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
